FLIGHT AT AUCKLAND. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, January 25. Several thousand people gathered at the Domain yesterday to see a flight by Lieut. J. J. Hammond in the dominion’s aeroplane. Hammond left the show grounds in the machine, but owing to the high winds was unable to land in the Domain. After circling over the heads of the spectators, he returned to the show grounds without mishap. AN AERIAL DERBY. SYDNEY, January 24. Four airmen—Stone, of America t Jones, of England: Hammond, of New Zealand; and Penfold, of Australia—have arrived at Sydney for the purposo of competing in the Aerial Derby next month.
