The stalT of Bray Bros, met together last evening In order to make a presentation to their manager, Mr J. .1. Nagle. The presentation was made by the new manager. Mr J. 1 Redgrave, who spoke of Mr Nagle’s kindness to the staff, the good feeling which existed among the members, and Mr Nagle's good generalship during the firm's initial year In Invercargill. Mr Nagle suitably responded, thanking the members for their help during the year, stating that he would always remember the days spent with tlie firm of Bray Bros, in Invercargill. Mr Nagle Is leaving Invercargill to enter into business on his own account. Mr and Mrs A. S. Cookson, of Invercargill, were passengers for tlie north by the s.s. Ulimaroa last evening. Mr and Mrs Cookson are bound for Lyttelton and Intend spending a holiday in the Canterbury district. Mr George Kelly, of the Southland County Council Office, left Bluff yesterday on a trip to the Homeland. Sir Kelly has been in Indifferent health for some time and anticipates benefiting gre'atly after a long sea voyage. He will be absent from New Zealand for six months. Mr A. Lithgow, of Launceston (Tasmania), and an old Invercargillite, arrived at Bluff by the s.s. Ulimaroa yesterday morning on a holiday visit of a couple of weeks’ duration. Mr A. Dingwall, formerly of the Invercargill Telegraph staff, but stationed fit Napier for the past couple of years, has been paying a visit to this town. He left again for the north by yesterday’s mid-day express. New Tork advices state that Mr J. D. Rockefeller is out of immediate danger. Mr W. B. Scandrett has been confined to his bed for the past few days, and on Sunday morning underwent an operation which was successfully carried through. Last night his condition .was considerably Improved, but it will be some little time yet before he will be sufficiently recovered to be out and about tgala
