UNPRECEDENTED HONOUR. LONDON, January 2. Madame Melba, who recently gave up ner London bouse and wont to live in Paris, has been persuaded by the director of the Grand Opera to give special performances in March and April. It Is understood that the performances ■will be operatic selections, possibly in costume. The Invitation to make a special appearance on the stage of the Grand Opera Is considered to be an unprecedented honour. Madame Melba will appear at Covent Garden in June, and will leave for a tour of Canada and the United States in September, Tho lour will last live months, and she will receive £40,000.
