Th© Admiralty Is detaching the battleship New Zealand from Admiral Bayly’s first cruiser squadron at the end of January to show the flag overseas under Commander Halsty, who was in charge of the naval gun at Ladysmith. The New Zealand’s executive officer is Henry Grace, the cricketer’s son. She calls at St. Vincent, Ascension, St. Helena. Simon’s Bay, Hobart and Lyttelton, spending two or three months at New Zealand ports. The naval parties will visit the chief Inland towns of New Zealand, and may call at the Vest Indies on the return journey, and possibly Canada.
