Received June 4, 9.50 p.m. The elections resulted in a Catholic majority of sixteen over the combined Liberals and Socialists. There were many disturbances and the windows of Catholic Clubs were wrecked. Demonstrators at Ghent smashed the' windows of the Noble’s Club, and revolver shots were fired. Three Socioltsts at Liege wore killed and fifteen were wounded during a gendarme raid on the Socialists’ headquarters. Elsewhere Socialists derailed trains Troops occupied Liege in large numbers; demonstrators, police and civic guards were injured, and numerous arrests were made. Crowds at Brussels threatened Catholic establishments. The gendarmes repeatedly charged and many arrests were made.
