THE TAAL ERUPTION.
EZXSAOXtSXXT&BT THROES. (By Telegraph—Proas Association—Copyright). BRISBANE, March 20. The chief medical officer at Manll* has arrived here. He gives a vivid description of the recent eruption in the island of Taal. The explosion was heard for a distance of 250 miles, and was followed by a tidal wave which swept six miles Inland. The inhabitants were exterminated, the only living thing found being a monkey. All toe bodies were recovered, and about 1500 were completely naked. The seismic' wave travelled to the town of Lemery, the country around subsiding to a depth of six feet.
