Another particularly successful clear’ng sale was conducted yesterday byMessrs Wright, Stephenson and Co. at South Hillend, when on behalf of Mr Nicholas Kelly (who has sold his property to Mr A. Bisset, of Temuka) they submitted a catalogue comprising horses, sheep, cattle, etc. As a breeder and owner of horses, Mr Kelly enjoys no little reputation, and with a large attendance of agriculturists from all quarters the proceedings were always characterised by extreme briskness. The horses ■were the feature of tlle sale and with Australian buyers competing some big prices were secured, the century- being topped in one instance. The auctioneering duties were shared by Messrs T. Prendergast and J. McDonald. HORSES. The sales were a-s follows: Bay ally, 3 yrs old, by Royal DerbyShepherd Lass (in foal to Balgowrie), 101 guineas to Messrs Dixon and Lang (South Australia). Bay mare, 6 yrs old, by Better Times Lord Salisbury mare (in foal to Balgowrie), 95gns to Messrs Dixon and Bans (South Australia-). Vyner (Olalara) at las 7d iind 15s 5(1 per head respectively, Forlypigh t lambs made 9s Hid. CATTLE. Four 3-year-old stems realised £6 12s. Dairy eows sold at £9 Ills, £B, £7 5s and £6. two heifer,i made £3 17s 6d, amt a heifer calf two guineas. The buyers of the dairy eows were Messrs J. Reid (Centre Bush), W and G. Pike (South ilillend), and John Looney. CLEARING BALE AT MORTON MAINS The National Mortgage Company report that they held a clearing sale yesterday at Morton Mains on account of Mr Fred Hall, who has disposed of his farm to Mr Wm. Foley, of Dacre. The catalogue consisted of dairy cows, horses, implements, etc. Taking into consideration the condition of the cows and the time of the season, satisfactory prices were realised. The horses were aged, but fetched good values. Implements, harness, sundries and a quantity of household effects made figures up to expectations. WYNDEAM STOCK SALE. There was a fair yarding of both sheep and cattle yesterday for the mid-monthly sale held at the Wyndham saleyards, but there was only a limited attendance of buyers. Business accordingly was none 100 brisk and several pens were passed in. A line of 120 2. 4, 6, and 8-tooth ewes realised Its 9d and JOs 6cl was paid for 80 two-tooth ewes. With 13s 6d the best bid for 80 two-tooth ewes the same were passed in. Good lambs made up to Its and smaller sorts brought from 6s 6d to 9s 6d. Some excellent pens of cattle were forward and sold as follows:—12 three and four-year-old bullocks at £S ss: 30 two and three-year-olds at £7 9s. and 35 eight months and two-year-olds at £5. Wheat. —13,500 quarters of South Australian and Victorian March-April shipment have been sold at 33s 6d. Copper.—Spot, £54 16s 3d; three months, £55 8s 9d. Tin.—Spot, £177 10s; three months, £177 15s. Lead, £l3 2s 6d. The American visible wheat supply is 67,738.000 bushels. At the wool sales there was animated competition for merinos and fine crossbreds from par to 5 per cent, above February prices. At the tallow sales 1080 casks were offered and 1056 sold. Mutton, fine, 36s per cwt; medium, 34s 6d; beef, fine, 355; medium, 345. BONBON WOOL SALES. LONDON, March 15. At the wool sales Buxton, Ronald and Co., Thomas and Cook, and Charles Balme and Co. catalogued 9055 bales, including 5750 from New Zealand. There was a good selection, especially of crossbreds, a very large attendance, and spirited bidding, everything being firm at February closing rates. The tone of the market is confident. Continental buyers are showing a better interest in crossbreds. The local branch of the Bank of New Zealand yesterday received the following cable from its London Office with reference to the London wool sales:—“ The sales have opened with strong competition and large attendance of buyers. No change for all kinds of wool.” Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having received the following cable from their head office, London, under date of 16th instant; — Wool Sales.—Attendance of buyers is large, competition animated. Selection good. Merino and crossbreds generally are unchanged. Dalgety and Co., Limited, report having received the following cable from their head office, dated London, 14th March:—"Wool sales opened, attendance of buyers is large: competition animated: selection good. Prices tor merinos generally, fine, medium and coarse crossbreds are unchanged, as compared with closing 1-ales of last series,” The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house, under date 15th instant:—There was a full attendance at the opening of the sales to-day, competition by Home and Continental buyers being active, and prices as compared with close of preceding sales ruled firm Cor all sorts.
