Mr J A Hunan, M.X 3 ., intimated ttiat the Power' House Sites Bill had passed the House of Representatives, and had yet to go through the Legislative Council. —Received. .\ conference of representatives ot all bodies in charge of tramways undertakings will meet in Wellington on Sth Dec. to consider the provisions of a proposed Dominion Tramways Award, a ■•. agreed on by the Federated Tramways Association of New Zealand.—Referred to the Tramways Committee with power to act. the Mayor explaining that the matter was an 'important one and one in whicn the Council should co-operate.

PETITIONS. A number of Gala street residents requested the Council to beautify the reserve opposite the Park school.—Referred to the Works Committee. -A number of Gladstone ratepayers requested the Council to improve the public places at Gladstone, and to erect a •R-elr on the Waihopal to allow of boating at low tide.—Referred to the \, orks Committee. N. J. M. Rein and eight olner Gala street residents complained of. the nuisance created by the noise made (at night-time) by the- Farmers' Co-opera-tive Association's seed-cleaning- machinery.—To lie on the table for a ,fortnight. .„ , COMMITTEE REPORTS. In the Public Works Committee's report, clause 5 (regarding the raising ol the money for the schedule of works) was held over for a fortnight to allow 3ouncillors time to consider the schedule. In the Gas and Water Committees reoort the clause recommending a rebate to the Park School Committee was struck out. In the Finance Committees report the •lause recommending calling for tenders for the right to advertise on . theatre programmes was struck out. These reports were, with the exceptions noted, adopted as, published. The Trams Committee's report was adopted as published. OFFICERS' REPORTS.. The Gardener reported that the staff had been kept busy on seasonable work. One of the staff was, he reported, entitled to an increase in wages. The Gasworks Manager reported that the gas made in October was 4,152.000 cubic feet, or 15 per cent, more than ■was made the previous October. There had been 334 tons of coal carbonised, and 107 tons of coke and 4500 gals, of tar sold. The gas mains extensions in North Invercargill had been completed, and both there and in Avenal and Gladstone they worked satisfactorily. The 21-ection of street lamps in North Invercargill was being pushed on. The automatic lighters continued to work satisfactorily, and lie proposed affixing thorn to all lamps north of Gala street. The reports were referred to theseveral committees. There being no "other business" the Council adjourned at 0,25 p.m.
