AN EARTHQUAKE
DAMAGE IN ITALY. SOME LOSS OF LIFE, (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright). ROME. June 7. An earthquake damaged the beautiful Cathedral at Bovino. Many inhabitants of Naples and Foggla camped In the streets. Many houses wore destroyed and twenty people were killed at Avelllno. There were deaths elsewhere. The King and Queen of Italy have left Rome by special train to visit the scene of the earthquake. Seventeen towns and houses caused a majority of the casualties, the victims being asleep at the time. The shock was undulatory. Parties from the carbineers, sanitary, and engineer corps are actively engaged recovering bodies from the ruins. Fissures have been torn in all the streets in Avellino, and much damage has been done at Calitri and Vellata. A strong shock was also felt at Montreaux on Lake Geneva, and in the Upper Rhone Valley, causing avalanches to come down from the mountain known as Lent du Midi. THE DEATH BOLL. ROME, June S.
