RIVERSDALE NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) We are now well on in harvest, some farmers already being finished. The threshing mills are, however, very busy, though somewhat hindered by tho indifferent weather. Tho returns are not on the whole nearly so satisfactory as last year, though tho yield per acre in the heaviest land of the VVcndon and Olarna districts has averaged In some cases from 70 to 100 bushels. Through the dryness of the season tho oats are of a slightly inferior size, having ripened ere they were fully developed. Turnip crops are looking fairly well, though the few showers of rain we experienced eprnc a 11 1 tie lute to benefit the earliersown ones.

The local dairy factory is not receiving such a large quantity of milk, the supply having gone down about 300 or 400 gallons. Grass is somewhat scarce, though ils condition on the stubble ground is fair.

The social life in Riversdalc is very quiet at present, the Tennis Club being the chief centre of interest for the young people. Various matches with neighbouring clubs have been played, but its the local one has fewer experienced players, it has not met witli tho success it hopes to.

The religious bodies hero have been lately honoured with visits from Bishop Xeviit (Anglican) and Bishop Vordon (Homan Catholic). Bishop XevilTs visit was principally to find out if there would be sufficient support to enable them to divide this parish up, as it covers such a very wide area, extending from Wintoa to Waikaia. Hu expressed himself satisfied with the way the work has been carried on hero, by the lay reader, Mr Baylis. and with the manifest interest of all supporters. Bishop Verdon devoted most of his time to questioning candidates for confirmation, and on Sunday afternoon about DO or GO children and adults were confirmed.
