The question of the salaries of school inspectors arose at the meeting of the Education Board to-day, wlten the chairman (Mr U J. Bagnall) moved:—"That the salaries of Inspectors Crowe and Grierson be increased from £101) to £-125 a year." Mr Parr moved as an amendment—"That the salaries of all die inspectors be increased by £25." The Auckland Board, lie stated, was paying its inspectors less than was paid in Otago, Canterbury and other districts, although the cost of living was quite as high here as there. The chairman thought the travelling allowances w«r« less in the south than at Auckland. If they made the salaries equal to those in the south they would have a large number of applications from the south for the Auckland positions. The chairman's motion was carried. THE LANS HUNGER.
