School Committee Elections.

MONDAY, 27th APRIL. CLINTON.—The householders' meeting wis aticnded by a goodly number, and the following were elected a committee for this year :—Messrs Wm. Nelson (chairman), Moloney (secretary), Mrs Itedpath, Mrs Delzon, Messrs C. Bruce, J. Caldcr, Harris. A vote of thanks to the chairman (Mr Richard Irving) brought the meeting to a close. MAKAREYVA.—About 3i) householders attended the annual meeting for the purpose of electing a new committee. Mr Wuldion was voted to the chair. The retiring secretary read the annual balance-sheet, showing a credit balance of £8 4s sd, which wus considered very satisfactory. Tea nominations were received for the seven vacancies, and the following were elected : Messrs IC. Fiulayson (chairman). J. McCloskic (secretary and treasurer, re-' .:■.;..., w. £Bast, C, Neilsou, H. Uoyer. and J. O. Gorton. FERNHILLS.—LittIe Interest centred in the Fcrnhllls election, but the "noble soven" (the number required for a conimlttlee) householders mrned up lo ueo the fun. Alas, for I heir trouble: No fun transpired. It was tame—very tame. Mr M. Murphy occupied the chair, Others present were : Messrs W, Milne. W. .J. Robertson, W. A. (ox, W. Murphy, A. Murrell! and J. Fletcher. The secretary read the annual report and balance-shoot, which showed ihe school to be In a good state, the number on the roll being 34, and the average attendance about :9—a very good average. The balancesheet showed the very satisfactory amount of £8 9s 9d to credit. Tho new committee Is as follows : Messrs W. A. Cox (chairman), M. Murphy, U. Milne, W, Murphy, W, J. Robertson, A. Murrell, J. Fletcher. After routine business and a vote of thanks to the retiring chairman, the meeting closed. FORTROSE.—The annual meeting of householders was attended by the same few who attend • very year. The old committee reported a credit balance of over £7. Those present were, declared elected, namely : K. O. McKenzio (chairman), J. P. Malouey (secretary and treasurer), J. Anderson. 11. Chisholm and J. Chisholm. OTAUTAI*.—The annual meeting was sparsely attended. The chairman and others expressed regrot at the seeming lack of Interest taken In school affairs. Mr Mills, the chairman, read thu report and balance-sheet for the past yc^ r which showed receipts £134 9s lid ; expenditure? 9s 2d, leaving a balance of £5 Os lid. The chairman, in moving the adoption of the balance-sheet, said that the committee had for two years pursued a steady course of improvement to the school property, and the result was a very great benefit to the children. The new committee would have tho same difficulties to face us the last, as a vast amount of work was still wanted. There was a new fence, further levelling, gravelling and .•irplialllnß. The election resulted as follows : Messrs C. D. Mills, J. Fisher, A. Bullman, 0. A. Burnett and A. Gunn (re-elected), and Messrs .1. Dickson and T. Winton (new members). Mr A. Gunn was re-appointed secretary and Mr James Dickson chairman. WAIANIWA. The meeting of householders in this district was poorly attended. .The following Ave gentlemen were declared elected : Messrs W. E. Carter (chairman), F. Boyd (secretary and treasurer), .1. Pink, W. Kennard, and the Rev, J. Klrkland. TARAMOA.—The following gentlemen comprise the new committee : Messrs W. McDowall 'chairman), T. Port, \Y. R. Ronald, W*. Glover, 11. McDowall, J. Munn and R. Stewart. LUMBDEN.—The annual meeting of householders to elect a committeo for the ensuing year met In I lie Lumsdcn schoolroom. There wero eight prosent, six being members of the old committee. Tho election resulted In four of the old committee being elected, the others declining election. A vote of thanks was passed to the old committee, and -to Mr Jas. Martin, tho retiring Bccre-tary. Those elected were : Andrew Small (chairman), Messrs J. Robortson, T. Menzles and R. Oliver. KENNINGTON.—At the annual meeting the following gentlemen were elected as committeo for !S')S-8 : Messrs Fowler (chairman), Matbeson (secretary), Hain, Wood, Irving, Burns and Clartte.
