Accidents and Fatalities.
Per United Press Association. TIMARU, Jan. 25. At Cannlngton yesterday two men named Joseph and David Gibson (cousins) were cutting stakes for fencing, when the latter, who had a gun with him, left work to shoot some birds and rabbits. Ho tripped over some logs and a charge exploding entered his stomach and he died two hours later. The deceased was a single man, aged 42 years. AUCKLAND, Jan. 25. The inquest on the bodies recovered after the Claymore-Kapanui colision in the. harbour on 23rd Do-' ■comber, concluded to-day. The jury found that the deaths of all three were occasioned by the improper navigation of James Southgate, then master of the Kapanui, He was then arrested on a charge of manslaughter, taken before a justice and released on bail- ~ DUNEDIN, Jan. 25. This afternoon a daughter of fessor Brown, of Auckland, was about to board a tram car in Princes street when she was struck by a runaway horse in an express. Tho wheels of the vehicle passed over her and her dress becoming entangled she was dragged a few yards. The sufferer was conveyed to a j rivate hospital. It Is thought that, in addition to severe bruises, . two or throe ribs aid broken. Miss Brown’ s :| condition is serious.
