(From Our Own Corrosuondent.) Wednesday morning broke in a steady downpour of rain end promised to spoil the races ami (lie Mataura picnic. However by noon the weather took up, and (ho afternoon was beautifully fine. The races were not so well patronised ns usual, but t'io events were well contested and interesting. Following were tho results : Hurdles, l';i mile.—Mr Swale's Cronjo 1, Mr Robinson’s llairtriggcr I, Mr Hogan’s Post Curd 3. Hack Handicap. 7 furlongs.—Mr McFadgen's Miss May and Mr Kennedy’s Maystone dead heat, Mr Tccopsky’s Iconoclast 3. Orcpuki Cup, 1J mile.—Mr P. Hogan’s Little Bob I, Mr A. Meare's Wairiri 2, Mr McFadgen’ r Sunshine 3. Three others started. A very’ good race run in fair time. Handicap Trot.—Mr J. Mncpherson’s Dick Turpin 1, Air M. O'Helen's Hack 2, Mr Turnbull’s Export 3. Throe others mri? Welter Handicap.—Air 3i Cox’s Picket 1, Mr ATcFndgen's Sunshine 2, Mr AlcDougall’s Juggler 3. Throe others ran.Aliners’ Plate.—Air Tecopsky’s Iconoclast 1, Mr Mclntyre’s Alachinist 2, Air Tecopsky’s Tahai 3.
