A man reports that ho met a man in the gardens, who offered him beer, but he refused, as he is a 'teetotaller. Latest. THE VANCOUVER SERVICE. SYDNEY, May 6. Received 7th, 8.30 p.m. Mr James Mills has not mcceeded in arranging with the Federal Government for a continuance of the Vancouver service beyond a temporary extension for three months. I PLAGUE. A plague patient at Lismore is dead and a fresh case and mother death have occurred at Newcastle. BOATING FATALITY. A boat capsized off Newcastle and two men—Frank Wilson and William Sneddon —were drowned. AN UNLUCKY COAST. NOUMEA, May 7. Received Bth, 1.11 a.m. The Almedia, a Norwegian ship, in ballast, bound from Melbourne to Nehoue, to loud chrome ore, ran ashore on the main reef at the south end of the island last Wednesday. The crew have arrived here. The vessel is half full of water and will probably become a total wreck.
