NORTH INVERCARGILL. The town clerk (Mr W. J. McKay) yesterday received the following nominations '• For the Mayoralty, Mr J. H. Kissell, who was declared re-elected, there being no other nomination. For the Council North Ward . Robt. Ram-, say (nominators. D. O’Callaghan and J. A. Rafhsay), Ed. R. Godward (W. Anderson and 0. B. Ekensteon), P. O'Callaghan (J. A. Ramsay and R. Runway), South Ward : Geo. Purdue (T. Gibson and R. Morgan), J. Flaus (T. 11. Morten and J 3 H. Kissell). Centre Wsrd : W. Fraser ,(T. Knuckey and B. KaveneyJ.j T. Knuckey (W. Fraser and A. Thorneon). All the persons nominated were declared elected, and the town clerk notified that steps would be taken to fill the vacancies in the Centre and South Wards, wtsiclt are each entitled to three representatives. The naw councillors are Robert Ramsay and T. Knuckey, alnd .the councillors who did not offer ihemselves for re-election are Messrs Woodward,-

Den ley and J- A.. Ramsay. The Mayor (Mr J. H. Kissel!) had at a public meeting declared that ho would net stand again if’ any other suitable candidate were nominated, but in deference to the request of that meeting, and other urgent yepretentations, ho agreed to nomination,AVENAL. The election of Mayor for the ensuing year and of nine councillors for two years took place, in the town hall yesterday. The following wore elected Mayor, Hon. H. Feld wick Coum illdrs, Robert Cleave, W. S. Brass, E. R- Stephens, James Ward, A. R. Leckie, George' 11. Joyce, A. Masters, junr., Robert J. Gilmour and Eustace Russell, the two dost being residents, of the area of Wellesley, just addfd to the borougCv. MATAURA. Nominations for the offices of Mayor and councillors took place yesterday. For the office of Mayor Messrs Hugh Caaneron and John Lowden, jun r ., were humiliated, and for louncillors Messrs John lleslin, William Gardiner, W. Coster, Jc.Cm Galt, G. Barclay, A. NcLay, J. McCubbin and H. J. Greenwood—being one short of the number required. Mr Thos. MacGibUon was asked tJ allow himself to \>e nominated as Major, but declined on the ground oi pressure of business and public duties.

DUNEDlN.—Councillor Braithwaite was elected Mayor. With the exception of High Ward, there will be a contest in dll wards for three councillors. Mr Marlow was re-elected Mayor of St. Hilda.

TIMARU.—Mr James Craigie was reelected lor the fourth term in succession as Mayor. In three wards the election of councillors will be contested. HASTINGS.—There are three candidates, Mr Lane (the present Mayor), Dennett, and Thomson, for the Mayoralty, and about 20 for the Council. I’ALMERSTON NORTH.—Sixteen candidates were nominated for the Borough Council, and Messrs M. Cohen and H. Haydon for the mayoralty. .WANGANUI—Mr A. G. Bagnell was returned Mayor for a second term. There are thirteen candidates for nine vacancies on the Council.

LYTTELTON—Sir S. R. Webb was elected Mayor without opposition. Thirteen have been nominated for nine seats on the Council. CHRISTCHURCH.—There are 27 can-

'didates for 1-1 seats In the City Council. WAJMATE. —Mr John Manchester was elected Mayor and only the required number, oj. councillors were nominated.
