ANOTHER FIERCE LIEU TENANT

The Bon delzw airs, a tribe oi' Hottentots, captured Fort Warui'jad, in German West Africa, and massacred the German garrison in revenge for tho execution of a trilial duel 1 . The English residents are snt'e, but prisoners. Sir J. Gordon l^prigg is negotiating for their release. THE MOVING CAUSE, Received Bth, 9.48 a in. j Tho Hottentots murdered many German storekeepers in outlying districts and also massacred a police p >tt at Usibis. Tho cause of tho outbieak was a demand for the surrender of arms, avith a view to their registration. Lieut. Jobst, in parleying, lost his temper and shot a chief dead. Later details show that tho German garrison of Fort Warnibad made a gallant resistance to the end against an overwhelming number af the Bondelzwarrs tribesmen, who numbered 500 fighting men. The garrison at Keetmannohoop was also attacked. German reinforcements have left Windhoek, Cape Colony, for the scene of the fighting.
