I lioccivc-d HOlh, 11.37 p.m. A disaster, attributed to volcanic igency. has destroyed a colliery at < "•'rank (sic). North-west Canada, tilling over 100 persons, chiefly ' ivomen and children, and entombing 20 miners-. The valley was violently ' ■shaken at daybreak. This was followed by an eruption on Turtle Mountains, overlooking the town. < Millions of tons of rock were thrown vii. covering the entrance to the mine, burying buildings, and covering all persons outside of the workings. Some reports .state that the country for twenty miles is covered with lava and scoria, and that the Crow's Nest River is blocked by lava. A new crater is ejecting lava. I AP PALING SITUATION. Received Ist. 12.2 a.m. Latest reports from Frank state that the surface works of the mine are burning, and that the night shift (numbering 00) are below. The riveris dammed back to a height of 100 feet, and threatens to flood a wide area.
