4 Per United Press Association. TIMARU, April 3t>. At ihu Assessment Court to-day nearly all the hotelkeepers employed counsel to object to the valuations on the ground that owing to the insecure position of licenses through the local option poll hotel properly had been greatly reduced in value. The valuer replied that the valuation is on annual letting value, and the value this year cannot be affected by the risks of what may happen 2k years hence. Judge Keddell adopted this view. The objectors also urged that the Licensing Committee's pledge to shorten the hours to l() p. in affected the letting value this year. The judge concurred with the valuer's counsel that this ground of objection should have been stated in the form of the objection.
