Owing to the people Iseing. so busy getting in their harvest, the annual meeting of the Fanners' Union was poorly attended. However, all who were present enrolled and. with one exception, signal the guarantee bond. Mr John C'atto was elected president ; Mr W. Watson treasurer and Mr .1. B. Forde, junr., secretary. It is anticipated that the membership of the branch will be fully maintained during the year.
Notwithstanding the broken weather, farmers generally have ruanuged to get their crops secured in good condition. The yield all round is expected to be quite up to the average.
The Library Committee having received the Government subsidy has decided to expend £10 on new books. The library is much appreciated.
A service of song, entitled "'Uncle Tom's Cabin." will be given on the Bth prox. by the Presbyterian Church choir, assisted by friends from Wairio and Nightcaps, in n|d of an organ fund.
