Sale of Wantwood Estate
Messrs Henderson and Batgvr (in conjunction with Dalgety and Co., Ltd.) report having offered the above property at auction at Gore on Saturday. There was an exceptionally large attendance, but, as is usual in Southlaad, little business was done at auction. Immediately after tho sale. however, they succeeded in placing the following lots, viz., lot 8 (300 acres) . lot 10 (235 acres), lot 11 (280 acres), lot 12 (250 acres), lot lS (230 acres), lot, 14 (220 acres), lot l."> (220 acres), lot 16 (;",00 acres). lot IS (409 acres), lot 19 (2O(i acres), and lot 20 (200 acres). There is a brisk enquiry for the balance of the property, and the auctioneers expect to see the whole of the land absorbed within the next week oi» two. and, seeing the extremely moderate price put upon the land, the Want wood settlement will, doubtless, prove one of the best in Southland. Attention is directed to the clearing sale on 13th prox., when in addition to the stock the whole of the high-class furniture and effects will also be disposed of. This will be one of the most important sales of its class that has been held in Southland for years.
