The freight on sawn timber from New Zealand ports to South Africa, under the subsidised steam service, has been fixed at 6 i per 100 ft superficial, plus 10 per cent, primage, and subject to a rebate of 2i per cent. The rates to Fremantle are: Oats aud barley, 2S< 3d per ton of 2240! b ; potatoes, in bags, 28-j 3d ; wh« at and flour, 22s 6d per ton of 20001 b ; bran, 28s 3d ; general cargo, 28a per toa, weight or measurement ab ship's option, without primage, and prepaid or payable forward at shippers' option.
