Invercargill Horse Market

Messrs J. A. Mitchell and Co. report as follows, viz :—On Saturday. 13th, we had a moderate entry, only about 35 horses coming forward. This having been Show week a very small attendance of farmers were present on Saturday, and only about 15 horses changed hand. We offered a well-matched pair of harness cobs on account of Mr T. Fleming, b it, as they did not reach the owner’s reserve, were withdrawn from sale. On account of other vendors we sold draughts, young active sorts, at from £35 to £4l; aged useful horses, £2O to £33; old and stiff not enquired for. Jn the light harneis class we had a few pood sorts, and for the best of these there was a fair demand, selling at from £l7 to £2O 5s ; ordinary, £9 to £l4 ; light and inferior, not in request. On account of Mr T. Hodgson we disposed of 1 Jersey cow, near calving, £9 10s; heifers at £6, £5, £4 7s 61; £4 to 35s for calves.
