Keir Hardie declares that half a million workers are unemployed in Britain, and urges the Government to devote LIOO,OOO to supplement the local efforts to provide work and food for the destitute. The Archbishop of Canterbury s two doctors < summoned Sir Thomas Barlow, physician to the King’s household, for a consultation. A bulletin issued at 11 p.m. announced a further loss of strength.
