“In The Toils.”
This drama was staged in tho Theatre Royal yesterday evening by the LA. Dramatic Club to a fairly largo audience. It is evident that great care has been exercised in the mounting, which was disdncrly good, while the orchestra was all that cmud be desired. It is not, of course, to be expected that the various roles would-be filled up to the professional standard s > that the audience did not attend in critical moo 1, and when applause was deserved it was not stinted. The club have some good marerial, and they gave a very creditable representation of the piece, one which is perhaps a little heavy for young am iteurs, but considering the disc ncci-iing nervousnesi inseparable from a first night the nmmbe.s can be sincerely congratulat d cm tneir effort. Ti.is evening the o will be fewer counter attractions, also a large number of people from the country in Invercargill so that a bumper house should result, in which care the club will meet with the success itenterprise merits.
