The Public Works Statement and Estimates will be brought down to-morrow night, and it is intended to take the debate on Friday. i The Premier \s consulting members, both : prohibitionists and Mends of the "trade,"! with a view to having the Licensing Mil' passed in a, form acceptable to both parties; ' Defects which have been found to exist ie the present law, such as reducing the quorum of committees; preventing licenses being shifted to premises more than & quarter of a. mile distant ; bringing clubs under the Act, and giving the magistrate discretionary powers of endorsement are defects which Mr Seddon says he must legislate on. Ihe Public School Teachers' Salaries Bill will be passed this session. The Premier says he was misunderstood to say thaii he only intended to take the second readingThe State Coal Mines Bill is also to pi gone on with. Other measures of importance are th' 3 Payment of Members Bill and a Loan Bill. The Premier Bays that if members will apply themselves to work there is no reason why the session should not be concluded by t-u9 first week in November.:'"' -
