The Premier lni* received a cable from tho Commandant of the Forces in New South Wales, that the naval authorities state that the Harlcch Castle is not likely to leave Sydney for a fortnight. The Premier has also received a cable from the •Secretary for War which states that it will he necessary that more than 200,01)0 troops shall lie kept in South Africa and the expenditure could not he greatly reduced for some months. It was admitted that her Majesty's Government had miseahuihUijd the duration of the war. Wk.i.i.ini.ton, Dee. 14. The Post and Telegraph W>xr Fund Committee will remit £100 to Mr Pileher at Capetown for distribution among invalided sol diers from New Zealand in need of assistance.
