Anti-foreigners near Canton captured a doctor named Yeung, who is a Christian, and strung him up by the thumbs and toes, with a view to extorting from him a confession. Sir Claude Mac Donald's despatches in reference to the siege of tho Legations state that Dr Morrison, The Times correspondent, volunteered for every dangerous service, and was a pillar of strength when things were going badly. Fresh placards, whi'h have been posted in China, threaten a rising in January to expel foreigners.
