MORE UNION OF CHURCHES ' SYDNEY, Nov. 15. Received 15th, 11 p.m. At the postal conference Mr Crick advocated penny postage and sixpenny telegrams throughout the federation. The western districts are suffering severely from drought. The grass has all disappeared ; the edible bushes are giving out, and many stations are temporarily deserted, the stock being sent to the coastal districts. Some that carried 200,000 sheep are now -without a single head. The wool sales closed b risk. Good classes were firm at late rates; inferior were neglected. Received 16th, 0.10 a.m. Two cases of supposed plague, a man and his wife, who had just returned from a visit to Sydney, are reported at South Singleton. The Government medical officer, after examination of their blood, has ordered the isolation of the patients and contacts. The Legislative Council threw out the eight-hours provision in the Mining Engineers Hours Regulation Bill. An official report of the supposed plague eases is still lacking. MELBOURNE, Nov. 15. Received 15th,__ll p.m. Wool : A large and superior catalogue was offered and all cleared. Competition was very keen, Americans being eager buyers. The market is quiet at a farthing advance on last week. LavertyV throat also was cut. Gluck's confession indicates that he was suffering from dementia. He states that he was sleeping in a passage adjoining the victim's room, and during the night found himself lying alongside the bed of Laverty whom he had killed, using an axe and a razor.
