IN NEW ZEALAND.
(By Telegraph.) Wellington, Aug. 3. The sentence ** Contingent under-manned" in Major Cradock's cablegram to Colonel Penton, published yesterday, should have read "Contingent nnder Mahon." The Agent- General cables : — " I am advised that the deaths from sickness in South Africa at the present time are higher than at any time during the last three months." Napier, Aug. 3 A letter from Major Jowsey announces the death of Lieut. Berry, of the Third Contingent, in Johannesburg civil hospital, on 3rd June. Berry held the position of captain of the Napier Guards, and his wife and two children reside in Wellington.
