(Per Press Association). AUCKLAND, July 21. News has been received of the murder of Chas. Weston, who was for years clerk to Mr Coleman, a solicitor in this city. He purchased a steam merry-go-round which, after touring the colonies, he took to China and Japan. The murder took place at Batavia. Westou was counting his takings when a native shot and then stabbed him to death. A reward was offered by the authorities and an additional sum was subscribed by the public and the murderer soon caught. Weston was a well-known member of the Auckland AthUjtioClub. WELLINGTON, July 21. • The late Hon. R. Pbarazyn, M.L.C., was buried this morning. There was a large cortege and, as the deceased legislator had always opposed anti-Chinese measures, as a mark of respect a number of Chinese followed his remains to the grave. CHRISTCHURCH, July 21. The Canterbury Industrial Association has adopted a report to the effect that the Masters and Apprentices Bill, if passed into law would not have a beneficial effect on our youths or industries. The Conciliation Board resumed consideration of the difficulty in the boot trade to-day. The hearing of evidence and addresses bad not been concluded when the Board adjourned till to-morrow.
