A man named John To.id, alias Richard Smith, haß been arrested at Masterton on a charge of the larceny as a bailee of live horses, and some farming implements, the property of John McGibhon and Sons of Gore. Later. It transpires that it was not Todd who was arrested at Mastorton but a man named Richard Smith who arrived from the South on hie honeymoon trip and who wan mistaken for Todd. He was kept in custody all Sunday and discharged this morning, a further description of Todd having been received from Gore.
