v(FBOM OUB OWN COBBESPONBENT). A meeting of the Town Board was held on Monday night ; all the members were present. Ii was resolved that the Clerk obtain titles to the sections leased in the township. —James Todd's application for a path from the main street to his gate was declined.— lt was resolved to pay all necessary accounts about the ISth inst.— A motion by Mr Rankin — that lamps be placed ia the township during the winter montbs — lapsed, there being no seconder, but the clerkwas instructed to a-certain the cost of erecting and lighting lamps and icport to next meeting, — It was resolved to set aside L 25 towards draining the main street. — The Works .Committee were instructed to attend to Sedan street, and a committee was appointed to spend a sum not exceeding Lo in planting trees in the most suitable places in the township, — Resolved that Mr K. Munro be asked to open his lignite pit at once, and if the proprietor and members think the seam a paying one that a road be formed at once to gain access to it, — It was resolved tbat all owners at gorse fences be requested to have them trimmed at once.— -Besolved that the services of the present surfaceman and poundkeeper be dispensed with at the eDd of the present contract, and that tenders be oalled for poundkeeper and inspector of nuisances at per week. — The meeting then adjourned. A meeting of the Domain Board was held on Monday evening ; Mr H. Ive in the chair. Tenders were opeoed for leasing the piece of Jand known as tke Island and comprising 13 acres, when the tender of Mr James Walker wa« accepted at 6d per acre ; the lessee to abide by the specifications laid down by the Board.— Accounts amounting to L 2 2s were passed for payment. Mr James Dodd, a setter near Wyndham, had the sad misfortune to have a little girl, aged y months, smothered in bed on Monday. There were some children playing ia the room at the time but it is not known how the accident happened. At the Police Court on Tuesday, before H. McCullocb, EEq., George Davey was convicted of h*ving been drunk and disorderly on Saturday night, and was fined 20s with costs. Mr Mc .'ulloch severely censured him and cautioned him as to his behaviour in the future. On the Bame day George Davey and John Ringrose were charged before Mr I. W. Raymond, .!.?„ witk attempting to remove a wheel from Mr H. L. Wooaward's threshing mill from oif Mr Morley's blacksmith's shop. On the application of Constable Pratt the accused were remanded until Thursday. 7th June, 1887.
