James Campbell, a butcher, barged at this morning's uitUag of tho Police Court with having false welghw ia bis possos sion raised in extenaatiou of N oiYnce four DoiQts, of which three cortamty had fh Charm of novelty. The firat ot the four was tbat he had bought tl.* weight* in innocence of their beiDg light ; the second was that be and his wife #ere so cat up at being summoned that they had shut up shop and were going to leave til? country. The third plea was that although he sold meat with the light weighs several of hie customers did uot pay him ; while the last, and possibly the most original of the lot, was that he had a brother who had borne a god character for twenty-five years. AH were of no avail for tbe Magistrate decided to inflict a fiae which the defendant paH with the remark that it was the l_Bt money he would ever py to tho Court,
