Gore Jottings.

(FROM A CORRESPONDENT.) The current topic here now is;— Who is to be the fist Mayor of Gore? Four candidates already have signified their intention of contesting the honourable position. They are Messrs Thos. Green, James Beattie, I S. Simson, and F. 6. Canning, Canvassing is energetically practised daily by some of the candidates. I cannot at present attempt to give a tip as to the running, for possibly others may come out for the much-coveted position ; however, I shall keep a keen eye upon the various competitors, and may, prior to the finish, spoi the winner. Tbe election of councillors, nine in number, will take place on the second Wednesday in and that of the mayor on the last Wednesday in November; possibly many changes may take place ere then.
