A Strong Indictment.

TO THE EDITOB.

Sib,— l dare state that no Government as yet has deserved less mere} at tbe hands of members of Parliament than the present. The miles of rubbish, the thousands of words uttered by Mr Kobßrt Stout^in all his capacities, re the oppression of the working classes, amounts in all to fulsome twaddle. No sooner does he don the ermine than God help the working classes, for the Premier has callously set his face against them. We have nothing to do with the Minister of the Rabbit Department— or the Property Tax Commissioner : what we have to do with is Mr Bobert Stout as Premier. He is a fa*r sample of all pronounced Radicals ; a bubble of froth and Bpume. Had be the smallest political honesty to back up his many empty assurances, he would not for one moment dare not to notice the vile injustice that is being perpetrated upon the public by allowing Government employes to publicly tender for work that ought by right to be spread amongst the people. And I ask— Wherefore the eilence of the members ; do they lack back bone j or is Sir Julius thimble-rigging, sni they his silly spectators? If the members, through apathy, mean to allow the Babbit Inspector and the Forest Banger to hold these billet*, then tho sooner the general public make up their jmiad to court the acquaintance of other gentlemen who will serve thtir ends in Wellington the better. Of course as far as the member for Awarua is concerned I do not expect he will move against the Forest Banger, as he is looked upon as his political protege.— l am, &c, W. STEELB. Invercargill, 15th July, 1885.
