MELBOURNE, Nov. 23. The Loan Redemption Bill was finally passed bjr the Legislative Assembly last night. Isaac Ogle, clerk in the employ of Mr Duffett, solicitor, of Melbourne, who was arrested in England in June last, has been committed for trial here for embezzlement. The failure is announced of L°vin, Goldberg Bros, and Co. of this city. The firm's liabilities are act down at £65,000. Messrs Goldßborough and Company (Limited) report that at their wool sale yesterday 5000 bales were catalogued, and 4100 sold. The prices realised were satisfactory. The highest figure for greasy was 15^d, and for scoured 2£d - ADELAIDE, Nov. 23. It has transpired that Sir William Jervois has received a telegram from Lord Kimberley offering him the Governorship of New Zealand, and that Sir William has replied, accepting the position. Received Nov. 23, 1882, 3.5 p.m. SYDNEY, Nov. 23. Sailed, this afternoon — Union Co.'s s.s. Wairarapa, for Auckland. Parliament was dissolved to-day, and writs have been issued for a general election which will be concluded before the close of the year. Nominations for the Sydney constituencies will be made on the 28th inst. Beceived Nov. 24, 1882, 1 a.m. ALBANY, Nov. 23. The P. and O. steamship Rosetta with inwards mails, via Suez and Brindisi, dated London, October 20, arrived in King George's Sound this morning. The cricket match between the English team and twenty-two of Sandhurst concluded to-day. The weather was fine, and the attendance of spectators was ag-aiu large. The visitors, with cix wickets down and 36 to their credit, continued their innings, which closed for 117. S. F. H. Leslie, 48, not out, was the highest scorer. The home team commenced their second inningß, and were all disposed of for 119. The Englishmen then went in, and at the conclusion of the Hay's play had scored 28 runs without the loss of a wicket. Being a two days' match the game was drawn, the visitors requiring to make 75 runs to win. During the past week the New Zealand Loan & Mercantile Agency Co. have offered 2230 bales at their wool sales, of which 1900 were sold at prices which were considered satisfactory. There has been a good attendance of buyers, and brisk competition was experienced. Good qualities fetch about the same as at last sales ; coarse and inferior crossbreds, in sympathy with the London market, are a shade weaker.
