A Wonder or Twa frae Winton.
♦- • TO THE EDITOB. Sir,— -I ha'e twa or three laddies attendin' the Winton schule, and am no unlikely tb ha'e a quid wheen mair. Is't ony marvel then, Mister Editor, that I should wonder why the schule doesna gel some mair teaching power. What way can a bit lassie teach 70 bairns, that being sometimes the number that fa's tothe assistant's lot. Couldna the committee, wha are itherwise sac offeecious, get the help of a young lady, and try and gi'e a' that comes to the schule a bit lesson. Just fancy the puir craters gaun twa and three miles and neve* -gettin' ac lesson, let alane twa or three that' they should get. I ha'e been wondering this gude while if it is because bookkeeping is no learnt in our schules that so mony folks break in this country. I would like my laddies to get a wee smatterin' o't. Nae mair at present, but remain youre, lAMMAS. For remainder of reading -matter see fourth page
