Gore.

(FBOM OUB OWN CORBESPOKDENT.) Another step haa been taken towards the establishment of the proposed Farmers' Co-operative Store and Agency Co. At a meeting of. provisional directors, held last Saturday, it waa resolved to publish the prospectus at once. It was mentioned thatthe proposal was very favorably entertained amongst the farmers — the class it is intended to specially benefit. : Another ecclesiastical structure is about to be erected in Gordon. I refer to a Roman Catholic chapel — tenders for which were invited a short time ago. Mr Latham is the lowest tenderer, but some hitch has occurred to prevent the contract being signed. The next lowest is Mr Willis. It is pleasing to see tbe energy displayed i by all sections of our community in help- j ing ' on the work of church erection. Bigotry in religious creed is, I am glad to say, unknown in this district. All combine to assist when occasion requires. There is some talk of a Building Society being started, but nothiDg definite has yet been done in connection with the matter. The work of restoring the traffic and railway bridge is now being proceeded with as well as the traffic will permit. It is expected that eight months- will be required to complete the work, during the whole of which period the public must suffer much inconvenience. I observe by our local paper that the lease of a valuable municipal reserve will be sold next month. The site is a really Capital one, I may say the best available in Gore ; and should any of your business men intend to invest, now is their chance. ■ I may inform lovers of angling that we will soon be able to afford them scope in that direction, as the Waikaka stream is becoming • pretty well stocked, while the Otamete has been declared open for fishing. The weather is now very favorable to vegetation, and as a consequence the ciops have very much improved during the past few weeks ; still a shower would be very acceptable — -—^-.
