[RBUTER'S TELEGRAMS.] MELBOURNE. Nov. 26. A report reached Melbourne to-day that a volcanic outbreak has occurred in the vicinity of Snug River, 20 miles from Hobart, and that there has been a tremendous land-slip, with serious openings, over an area of two miles. Telegrams from Hobart report that there is great excitement there owing to the report, which, however, requires confirmation. Later. Telegrams received this morning from Hobart in some measure confirm the reported volcanic outbreak near tho town. It is believed that the occurrence is due to a coal seam being on fire, but nothing definite is yet known. The prospectus has been issued of a new bank, to be styled the Bank of Australia. The capital is to be ong million. Nov. 27. Latest intelligence from Hobart regarding the reported outbreak is to the effect that a brilliant illumination is visible from the town, but no authentic news has yet been received regarding the disturbance. SYDNEY, Nov. 20. In the cricket match between the English team and 22 of Newcastle yesterday the Englishmen, in their first innings, scored 112, and at the close of tho day's play the 22 had scored 34 for the loss of 12 wickets. In the Legislative Assembly last night the Attorney-General, in reply to a question, said that legal proceedings would be instituted without delay in connection with tho Mil burn Creek affair.

The cricket match between the English Eleven aud Twenty-two of the northern district was concluded at Newcastle to-day, and resulted in a draw in favor of the local team. The Twenty-two in their first innings scored 79, and the Englishmen in their second innings 75. In their second innings Newcastle had lost 10 wickets for seventy-nine runs, when time was called.
