The question of abolishing the tonnage dues on deck cargo having been brought under the notice of the Treasurer, principally "by firms engaged in the intercolonial trade, he gave instructions to cease making such collections. Five officers and 122 blue jackets arrived here from London in the Gauntlet, for distribution in the war schooners employed on this station.
