Mr Chapman's store, insured for LSOO ; the greater part of his stock and furniture j were saved. The County Chambers, ] Rodgers's tailor's shop, Connor's boot i shop, the old printing office, and Chap- j man's shop, belonged to MJr Matthews, and were only covered by L 450. Rod- , gers's stock was uninsured, and about j half of it was saved. All the books ' belonging to the County Council were < saved, bub a few papers wer« lost. The insurances are distributed as foi- , low_ : — South British, L 2900; New Zeaj land, LI3OO ; Norwich Union, LIOOO.
