-♦ Patea, Saturday. A resolution by the electors was passed unanimously last night, that they consider immediate and total abolition of the provinces, and the introduction of local government, will tend to promote the welfare of the whole colony, and especially of the outlying districts. Nelson, Saturday A large meeting was held in the Provincial Hall last night, when it was proposed ■' that this meeting cordially approves the Government measures regarding abolition of provinces throughout New Zealand •" to which an amendment was proposed — That in the opinion of this meeting, the Abolition and Local Government Bills should stand over to be dealt with by the new Parliament." Nine only voted for the amendment. The original resolution was carried amid loud cheers. A copy is to be forwarded to the Nelson members. Kaiapoi, Saturday The following resolution was passed at a public meeting held at Oxford last night :— " That this meeting ia of opinion that the Abolition Bill, as brought down by the Government, will be advantageous to the colony at large, aud to this province, and believes that no good object will be gained by delay." »
