MELBOURNE.

We take the following from the latest dates to hand of the Telegraph : — There has been but little business transacted to-day in the markete for breadstuff's and feeding grain. Flour is firm, at £11 to £11 10s, and wheat continues in good demand at 5s per bushel. Maize is steadily quoted at 4a, and oats are. in fair inquiry at 3s 3d to 3s 7d, . The cargo of the St. Magnus, from Penang, consisting of 4,251 bags sugar, was sold by Messrs Fraser and Co., on the Bth, and realised prices showing a very firm market ; and taking into consideration the difference in the class of sugar, -we might venture to say a small advance was established. Teas are in much better inquiry, and sales have been made at prices showing an advance on late quotations, several hundred packages having changed hands at full rates. On Monday next, the entire cargo of the George H. Peake, from Fog Chow, will be offered at Messrs Fraser and Co.'s rooms, and as these samples are eminently suited to meet the present requirements, there is no chance of any lack of animation. We cannot report any business in the general markets. Candles remain dull at recent rates ; and oils are not in more demand, though there can be little doubt that the prices ruling for these articles can only exist for a limited period. In wines and spirits there is not any great inquiry, and prices are, on the whole, much the same; Hennessy's bulk brandy .having been quitted at 7s per gallon, and the same brand in case at 265. Stout, of good Dublin bottling, is valued op to 9s 6d ; and Bass' Devenish ale, as well as Tennent's, is in steady demand at 10s.
