Wednesday, 19th November. 1' resent : — Messrs. Clarke (Chairman) Greive, Ganhwaite, Stirling, and .vWvor. The uinu'esof the last meeting were re&d and confirmed. The Cleik read the following letter from His Honor the Superintendent, intimating that Government would resume the management of the cemetery ! — Sir, will you have the goodness to inform the Town Board, that as it appears to the Provincial Government that it would be highly advantageous to the public that it would resume for a time, the management of the Invercargill Cemetery, the Government has resolved to cancel the regulations lor its management that were published in the Provincial Gazette, October 29tb, 1861. 'l'lie effei-t ot this cancelling will be to relieve the Town Board from tko responsibility of managing the cemetery. 1 have the honor to be Sir, Your obsdient servant, Jas. it. Mknzies, Superintendent. The Clerk of the Town Board, luvercar*ill. Superintendents oifice, Southland, 12th No*v., 1862. ! On the motion of Mr. Garth vvaite, seconded by Mr. M'lvor, the letter was ordered to lie over till next meeting Ca tried. A letter was read from Mr. R. M'Kay, requesting piyment for constructing a durin from hi property into Kelvin-street some time before the Town Uoard was in exiscence. Moved l»3" Mr. Greive, thit this Board cannot entertain Mr. M'Ka^'s communication, Seconded by Mr. Stirling. Carried A letter was read from John Lewis requesting extension of time in conbliuc'.ing culvens. Granted. The following accounts were presented for payment, the several contracts being finished : — John Ft user, clearing 11 chains Goldstreet 433. Henry Wfston ditto, ditto, £3H 10. J. Tat lor, 1 1 chains in Gala-s'reet. £'3i). Peter Kirk, ditto Y.ivvow-btreet, i.'4l as. George Andeisun,di to Dooti street. i.'4t William Keedwell, 12 chains ditto, £42. Moved by Mr. Garthwaiie that the ClerK inspect the works, and if done in accordance with the specification to pay the various amounts. Seconded by Mr. Grieve, Carried. The Board then proceeded to open tenders for clearing paits of Gala and Leet-sireets. 'Ihe following tenders were accepted. Clearing 11 chains hush Gala-street, (per I chain) £2 7, James Bell Clearing ditto ditro Leet-streer, (per chain) £2 5, J. Crombie. The meeting adjourned till Wednesday 261h inst.
