, —, « SOUTH INVERCARGILL : BRANCH. The monthly meeting of the above was held in Amethyst Hall on Tuesday, April llth. Mrs Pasley (President) occupied the chair, Thex - e was a good attendance, -29 members 'being y Apologies were received from several members on account of > sickness, and .Mrs Morrison was appointed sick visitor - for the month. Recognising- the great need for the representation on school committees of women, especially mothers, and S.n view of the nearness of the school committee elections, four members were nominated as candidates. As the South Invercargill delegate to the recent Conference (Mrs Smart) has not yet returned, Mrs Hunter, of the town Union Very kindly attended, and gave a report of the proceedings, which proved most interesting, and for which she was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. One new member was welcomed, and the meeting closed with the Benediction.
Y.SW.C.A The 40th yearly meeting of the Invercargill Young Men's Christian Association., was held on Tuesday evening, when there was a good attendance of members, Mr C- S. Longuet (President) in the chair. The chairman, in the course of his address, referred to the . problems confronting the Association through the war, financial, and other. The local membership had been lessened through members answering the call of King and Country, ahd the balance sheet showed, a debit balance of £2650. He extended a hearty welcome to Mr J. B. McKinney, who had once more taken up the duties of secretary. Office-bearers were elected, and Mr McKinney, in acknowledging the welcome extended to him, spoke hopefully of the future of the Association.
