Presentation

A very pleasant evening- was spent in the Protestant Hall, Liddel St., on Friday, 3rd June, when a number of friends and ex-boarders met to bid Mr and Mrs W. P. Durham goodbye, and make a presentation before their departure on a trip to the Old Country, for which they left on Wednesday, 15th June, going from Melbourne by the s.s. Osterley. During the interval, Mr F. Sheehan, on behalf of the ex-boarders and friends, asked Mr Durham to accept a gold mounted umbrella, and Mrs Durham a. gold brooch, both suitably inscribed. Mr Durham, on behalf of Mrs Durham-and himself, thanked the ex-, boarders and friends for the presentations. It had come quite as a surprise to them, and they hoped to be back in their midst in another twelve months. During' the evening musical items were given by the following • Messrs B. " McDonald, D. Cook, M. Durham, X. Grace, E. Cockroft, J.Durham, W. Wimble. A. Ferguson, and a recitation which was encored by Mr McLean. Dancing was kept going- till the small hours of the morning, music being supplied by Mr Chas. Duerden. The gathering finished up with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne. Mr and Mrs Durham left Bluff for Melbourne on Monday, 6th June.
