Messrs Holmes Bros., of Champion Boot Chop, Tay st., draw attention to their large stock of winter goods. Visitors to Invercargill for the winter show would do well to bear in mind that the Xoah’s ark that is being erected alongside the post office is not a permanent structure, but just to act as a guide to them in finding their way to Mr X. J. Keane’s extensive tobacco warehouse, which is opposite the post office- He is offering special inducements to his country friends, and if they miss the bargains in tobaccos, sports goods, walking-sticks, cheap reading, etc., they must take the blame themselves. Thousands of bargains await the early birds.

The largest nursery in the South' Island. That is a pretty substantial claim for Invercargill to make, but the well-known firm of Bennie and Sons make it with assurance, and a visit to their Waikiwi nursery seems to hear out the statement, while it also surprises us as to the extent to which all kinds of stuff are grown. The firm is just now supplying a Central Otago grower with over 1000 fruit trees, while their satisfied customers throughout this distinct must number many hundreds. Intending planters will therefore do well to get in touch with Messrs Bennie for trees, shrubs, roses, or plants of any kind.
