HALDANE NOTES.

A large party ot the friends of Mrs Donnelly and her son and daughter, Mr W. and Miss L. Donnelly, of Haldane, assembled at the local school house on Friday evening, 27th. May. to bid them farewell on the eve of their departure from this district.' Mrs Donnelly and family have lived at Haldane for some fourteen years, and have during that time done much to build up the district. Miss Donnelly, who always took a leading part in church, work, and Mr Donnelly, whose voice was a great acquisition to the singing, will be greatly missed from the Sunday services. The family have so gained the admiration of the community that one and all arc very sorry that they have decided to go elsewhere. Visitors and friends came from distances up to 20 odd miles, and quite a large programme was placed in the hands of the chairman of the evening, Mr T. Trumble, J.P. The following items were ably rendered : —Mr R. Wybrow, overture (pianoforte) ; Mrs R, Tillard, Mr A. Wybrow, Miss E. Harvey, songs ; Miss A. and Mrs J. Lopdell, duet ; Mr Trumble (recitation and song) ; Miss A. Lopdell, 'Mr Donnelly, songs ; Mr J. W. Lopdell, recitation ; Mi' 11. Watson, Mr G. Wybrow, Mr Woodward, songs. Just before a bountiful supper was partaken of Mrs Donnelly was presented with an elaborate silver basket, f Mr Donnelly wdth a silver-mounted walk-ing-stick, and Miss Donnelly wdth an up-to-date wanting desk. Mr Wybrow 7 , w 7 ho made the presentation, spoke in high terms of the good work done by Mrs Donnelly ’and family. They w r ere neighbours whom all were sorry to lose, and Miss Donnelly (post and telegraph mistress) would be hard to replace. Mr Trumble also spoke in a similar strain. Mr W. Donnelly responded on behalf of his mother, sister and self. A dance followed, at wffiich Mr Chas. Wybrow 7 made a very efficient M.C., wdiile Messrs G-. 11 and R. Wybrow discoursed good music.
