O DDFELLO WSHIP. There was a' large attendance at the meetine of the Loyal Shamrock, Rose and Thistle Lodge, 1.0.0. F., M.U., on Tuesday evening-—N.G. Bro. Peters in the chair. It was the date fixed tor the official visit from the District Officers, and the brothers of Loyal St. George Lodge- and the sisters of Loyal Hearts of Oak Lodge were also present in good numbers.. Bro. Allen, of Loyal Dunedin Lodge,, was also present. Two candidates were proposed, and one initiated. The following brothers were installed for the ensuing six months : G.M., Bro. W. Peters ; N.G., Bro. Crawford ; V. G., Bro. Connor; E.S., Bro. Campbell ; W., Bro. Speirs. P.P.G.M. Bro. Find lay acted as installing officer and P.C.M. Bro. Henry, D.P.G.M. Bro. Ball, I.P.P.G.M. Bro. Reicl, and P.P. G.M. Bro Todd acted as conductors. The toasts of the evening were responded to by P.G.M'. Bro. Henry, D.P.G.M. Bro. Ball, N.G. Bro. Holme«, and N.G. Sister McKillop. After refreshments had been handed round, the District Officers held a Purple Meeting, when several brothers and sisters availed themselves of the opportunity to take their past officers' degrees. FORESTERS BALL AT CLIFTON. The Foresters of Clifton held a most enjoyable ball there on Wednesday evening, over 50 couples being present.. The interior of the hall, which 1 was prettily and tastefully decorated, presented a very pleasing spectacle, as the grand march, led by C.R. Bro. and Mrs Cooper, was> under way. Dancing was started at 8.30, and was kept up until the small hours of the morning.. A number of members of the town Courts journeyed down, and P.C.R. Bro. Patton, on their behalf, thanked the committee for their invitation, expressed pleasure at the large audience, and congratulated the Clifton Foresters on the success of the ball! Tn a neat speech he pointed' out some of the advantages of being' a member of a benefit society. and tirged" all young men and women present who were not lodge members to join immediately. Bro. Patton also read a telegram received from S.C.R. Bro* T. C. Gillies, wishing the gathering every success. The catering was in the hands of Messrs Lange and Sons, and great credit and the thanks of the committee are clue to them for the fine supper laid out on the wellarranged tables. Mr' Lange's orchestra gave every satisfaction. Bro. W. Peace and Bro. H. Gillies made efficient M's.O. The secretary, Bro. H. Gillies', deserves a special word" of praise for his excellent work.
